I had been testing several image gallery plugins for WordPress, and ended up using mostly the well-known NextGen Gallery. However, I found it to be far from perfect. My image gallery displays often got messed up, which I usually traced to incompatibilities between plugins. Some of my NextGen galleries would also take a very long time to load. Thumbnails often ended up losing their links to the larger-sized images – I have not been able to track down a cause yet for that one.

That was before WordPress released an update to their already really good Jetpack. One of the new functionalities, called “Carousel”, allows the display of images in sleek magazine-style galleries. See the gallery at the top of the post!

I am in the process of upgrading all of my photo posts to use that new gallery display. I think my photo posts looks much better now, are probably easier to access for you, and definitely faster to upload and post for me, than they used to be. What do you think?
