Needwood Lake (1)

Lake Needwood, from a trail just before the entrance

I went for a long walk with my dog in Rock Creek Regional Park in Derwood, MD. The weather had been quite cold during the week-end and I mostly stayed home, so my husky really needed the exercise. I took the opportunity to take a few pictures, since the fall colors made the area look much more interesting than it usually does.

Lake Needwood

I walked in Upper Rock Creek Park and on the shores of Lake Needwood, which are the northernmost areas of Rock Creek Regional Park. The park actually extends around the river Rock Creek and flows all the way to Washington D.C. where Rock Creek merges with the Potomac. Following Dewey Road then Beach Drive through the park from Bethesda is a good way to explore the Southern part of the park by car or bike.
