I passed the castle of the Chambonnet by chance when driving in the neighborhood. The castle looked great and overlooked peaceful green pastures so I decided to stop and take a picture.
The castle is part of the Ponteils-et-Brésis area, located near the village of Concoules in the direction of the Woods of Bertrand.
It was restored and is the property of a Dutch, after being originally built by the De Sarrazin family during the XVIth century. The fact that it was built later than most castles in Cevennes makes it one of the finest properties in the area, because it was primarily intended for a comfortable life as opposed to the more common defensive purpose of older buildings .
